Interested in R/C flight?
2010-Training is March 18 - November 4
There are many steps to flying and r/c model, such as: know your aircraft, preparing for flight, pre-flight checks, take-offs, actual flying, and the important one, landing.
Fun Fact: Fort Worth Thunderbird Flight Instructors take care of all of this for you so you can focus on learning from day one.
The Fort Worth Thunderbirds also provide the aircraft, radio equipment, and fuel for you! You don't have to bring anything but a willingness to learn.
The most important thing for you to know is what "controls" the aircraft. The Ailerons, Elevators, and Rudder are collectively called the "Control Surfaces". Throttle controls engine speed or the rpm(revolutions per minute).
Important Information: Do NOT wear baggy pants, or shirts. No ties, or visible neclaces. These types of clothing can get caught into a spinning propeller and keep you from getting away. What most pilots wear is simple, regular t-shirt, polo shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes. Also, please listen to any additional safety advice any Instructor may give you.
Flight Training: The Fort Worth Thunderbirds offer free training for those that are interested in the hobby. Show up at 4:30pm on Thursday evenings and an instructor should be available. We offer training until dark or as long as we have safe conditions. Other training times can be established on an individual basis by contacting an instructor and arranging a time to meet. Feel free to contact any of the instructors listed below if you have questions regarding training availability.
Please Note: The Fort Worth Thunderbirds welcomes all of those who are interested in this hobby. However, do to time constraints and available resources, “Priority” scheduling will be given to people who have joined or are in the process of joining the Fort Worth Thunderbirds.
