Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the USA starts on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November. For 2025 we "spring" forward on March 9th.
That means our Thunderbirds Training on Thursdays kicks off again on March 13th.
Training is free! We provide everything you need.
If you are a rusty pilot of any discipline, we can get you back in the air, safely and cost effectively (no crashes!).

2025 is upon us. Your support and interest in the Thunderbirds is crucial to maintaining the flying field and meeting our obligations with the Corps of Engineers. Your membership dues provide the means for passing inspections, ensuring critical equipment is serviceable and the flying site meets your needs.

SAE Aero Design, also called the SAE Aero Design Collegiate Design Series, ended on Sunday after 3 full days of inspections and flying. The weather was highly variable on Friday with storms shutting down the event between noon and 3pm. We made a quick recovery and continued inspections and test flying until well after 6pm. The competition began in earnest just after 6am the next two days in near perfect weather. This event was perhaps the biggest we have hosted since the inaugural contest in 2004 with somewhere in the vicinity of 800 people in attendance.

The Thunderbirds made it happen with our volunteers giving 100% to make this a first class competition and memories that each student will be happy and proud to remember. You can read more about the contest on the SAE site and on YouTube for replays of the live stream.
